The European project IMAGINE was tasked with developing new calculation methods for railway, road, industrial and aircraft noise and to standardise the Harmonoise methods and to provide guidelines on how to use these methods for noise mapping and noise action plans (e.g. WHO/Europe has carried out an assessment study to provide methodological guidance in the estimation of the burden of disease related to environmental noise and preliminary estimates of DALYs (Disability-Adjusted Life Years) for the European Region.
